City of Hialeah · the city works, every day

Made here.
Kept running here.

Hialeah manages its own water, sewer and solid-waste services through Public Works. Your garbage route, recycling map, permit counter and utility bill each follow a different path—this guide puts them together so you can start in the right place.

Water accounts, collection maps, one City system

Hialeah operates its local utility and Solid Waste functions; which infrastructure source supplies your water varies by area.

WATER · SEWER · ONLINE PAY

Manage a City utility bill

Hialeah uses Xpress Bill Pay for both Water & Sewer and Solid Waste charges. An account lets residents view bills and payment history, pay online and enroll in paperless statements. Phone payment is available at 833-791-8947. For account or system questions, contact Water & Sewer at 305-556-3800.

LOCAL NETWORK · TWO WATER SOURCES

Why service can vary by area

The City provides water and wastewater service across Hialeah and also serves some nearby unincorporated areas. Hialeah purchases most drinking water from Miami-Dade County, while its jointly owned reverse-osmosis plant can produce up to 7.5 million gallons daily for the northwest part of the City. The southeast is served from Miami-Dade’s John E. Preston plant.

City wastewater infrastructure includes 101 lift-station service areas and roughly 338 miles of gravity sewer lines. For outages and advisories, check the City’s active notice before relying on a general map.

GARBAGE · TWICE WEEKLY

Check the collection area first

Residential garbage is collected twice weekly. Depending on the assigned area, pickup is Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday. Use the City collection map for your actual days. Place the brown 96-gallon City cart out the night before or before 6 a.m.; keep it at least five feet from vehicles, mailboxes and other obstacles, with the lid fully closed.

RECYCLING · BULK · YARD WASTE

Use the map, not a citywide guess

Residential recycling is scheduled twice a month; bulky and yard waste are collected once a month. Routes vary by area. Do not mix household garbage with yard or bulk debris. Missed collection, damaged cart, disability side-door service and prohibited items are handled through the Public Works Solid Waste Division.

Water or sewer problem? Call Hialeah Water & Sewer at 305-556-3800 or submit a City service report. For street flooding, sidewalk or road damage, route the issue to Streets/Public Works, not the billing counter.

City Hall, permits & the places residents use

City Hall is a multi-floor civic counter. Planning and Zoning, Building, Cashiers and the Clerk handle different steps.

BUILD · RENOVATE · INSPECT

Community Development & Building

Most construction, repair, demolition, relocation or occupancy changes require a permit before work begins. Hialeah’s Building Department reviews applications for Florida Building Code compliance; permit types, fees and inspection scheduling are on the City portal.

Building questions: 305-883-5825. City Hall: 501 Palm Avenue. The City’s Citizen Self-Service portal is used for permits issued through Tyler.

PLANNING · BUSINESS · LAND USE

Ask zoning before signing or building

Planning and Zoning is on the second floor of City Hall. Check that a proposed business use, building or renovation fits City zoning before leasing a space or starting work. Business Tax, code enforcement and planning are within Community Development but may have separate applications.
